So here we have 650 MPs about to disempower 17.5 million people simply because the MPs are 88% remain. Let’s say 400 MPs vote for one option the its only 400 MPs who are going to.seize control through a constitutional revolution . UK well on the way to becoming a none democratic country.

These votes are engineered by mps guilty of treason under the treason act 1351.All mps bar the pm and her supporters and especially the speaker (ring leader) should be found guilty of treason. The beauty of this indictment is that no new penal institution is required as the House of Commons is historically fortified so can serve as their prison and let the proletariat form a government . I still don't understand. Do they want to cancel the referendum 2 years ago? I thought it's finished, and it's just the process how to completely exit EU. So there is actually no democracy in UK for the people, only a big fat lie. I knew it. Ha

They obviously can't vote over a customs union because that would effectively have been the outcome of staying in the EU had the referendum gone the other way but the politics of hate and the B.B.C. walk hand in hand these days now don't they. They're only going to be able to vote on significant changes to the PM's deal or to construct some form of temporary coalition to fabricate a different deal but why would the government go along with that? Whatever happens they'll get one wildcard and a few ammendment options.

What Theresa May should do now is let us go on March 29. Just don't change the law and we'll be gone at 11 pm. She needed to put down the remain cabal but instead she was trying to appease them and it was a huge mistake.  The Labour Party run by Commie Corbyn the state murder apologist and celebrated antisemitist have pulled the rug out from under Brexit. Labour want to retain freedom of movement so that the poor and unemployed benefit tourists from the EU can live here in the hope they will be Labour voters. They are not representing the British working man and woman.  ENOUGH OF THIS S**T. Different people disagree on how to treat each other (and organise “society”) No rule exists to transform any individual set of preferences into a universal set of preferences.          “Some” always have exercised power upon “others” Parliamentary democracy is an institutional setting founded on a competitive process (elections) to choose representatives who then take “group decisions” (laws) Since the chance of unanimity approaches zero, decision making must be by majority. Such weak form of consensus is necessary & sufficient Due to such rule, citizens can consent to a voting outcome going against them; indeed democracy     exists iff persons accept such basic rule: that a decision made by any majority shall be universally binding; and only a subsequent and different majority can reverse the effects of the application of a previous majority decision. The majority rule (1 person = 1 vote) is also necessary to achieve “sufficient equality” among citizens; however “sufficient equality” also implies at least free public debate, dependent on pluralistic media, with differentiated ownership and political agendas . Only the complete set of different, opposing media can collectively offer a free public debate and assure that elections are competitive. Opposing media encourage people to think more rationally. Politicians have to justify their positions  against opposing views. Like John Locke and Thomas Jefferson claimed, a society of better informed  citizens is more likely to produce “good” legislation than one with ignorant subjects (“good” means the well-being of the greatest number of citizens) [Importantly, a necessary corollary of the democracy-preserving “sufficient equality” rule is the restraint that any political doctrine /religion/moral view implying its systematic imposition on everyone else must be banned [tolerance of intolerance is a democracy destroying contradiction] Different interest groups must participate fairly in public debate (before, during and after elections), in order for rational people to accept that a majority rejects their own personal view of society Claim1: Political parties are the new opium with which citizens are controlled (to paraphrase Marx)                                                                                   Claim 2: Plutocrats have seized control of all mass media and political parties; there are no longer either free media or competitive elections. By controlling all mass media, plutocrats manipulate public opinion, control the selection process of almost all politicians , and have made politicians indifferent to the quality of legislation: after all politicians get elected by simply manipulating ignorant citizens, and not by promoting their interests                                                           Claim 3: Failing to implement the majority decision on brexit leads rational brexit voters to conclude that the majority rule & the “sufficient equality” rule have been violated. Indeed Brexit voters have been treated as inferior, second class citizens: therefore the current institutional setting is undemocratic and without legitimacy, on a path towards full blown dictatorship.                        Claim 4: The “democracy contract” no longer being in force, one no longer has a duty to obey collective decisions. Rational brexit voters can practise all forms of civil disobedience, including for example not paying taxes, nor BBC licence fees

The first lock is the transition period, which lasts until at least 2021. We must hand over an estimated £39 billion for nothing, be bound by EU law and take orders from an unelected Joint Committee operating under the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice. Will the EU27 agree an equitable free trade agreement before the end of 2020? Unlikely, since all the goodies they want in the “future partnership” are set out in the Northern Ireland backstop, which kicks in automatically on 1st January 2021 unless superseded by a partnership” agreement. Full ratification by all Member States is required before any such agreement can come into force. Achieving this in time to avoid entering the backstop would be nothing short of miraculous, even if the EU agrees to extend the transition period for one or two years. So it is more pay with no say and a likely doubling of the Brexit bill to £80 billion, to be paid with no reference to British MPs.Not only does the backstop carve out Northern Ireland a an EU province and set a border in the Irish Sea, it creates a partial “customs union" that requires us to implement EU trade tariffs and with no decision making powers. Under highly restrictive “non-regression clauses”. the UK also agrees to implement all EU emimnmental. competition, state aid and tax harmonisation laws, with the unelected Joint Committee and the ECJ once again able to punish us for any perceived backsliding. British farmers will be locked into a subsidy regime well below support received by EU27 farmers , who nevertheless retain tariff-free access to the UK. British agriculture would be decimnted. It means we could not support British businesses, give ourselves a competitive edge in new technologies where we excel. strike independent trade deals or diverge in key policy areas Such as good regulatory and tax Free EU access to UK fisheries to sit down as a marker for negotiation future “deal” The Political Declaration replicates all the onerous “non-regression” clauses of the backstop and requires even more surrender of sovereignty via participation in and funding of the EU’s aerospace and defence programmes, free access to UK waters for EU fishermen, a full customs union and common trade policy, free movement by the backdoor under “mobility” clauses, EU control of UK agriculture via the state aid rules and in general full adherence to the acquis communautaire in all policy areas.

All of this should have been analysed and the people fully uniformed on each option before they voted. That is how to run a country. It was like asking someone do you want to eat in a restaurant. Yes - but what type of food - Indian, Greek, Chinese? In a fancy clean restaurant or in a shithole where you might get food poisoning? In the city centre or in a shopping centre? The people were asked a stupid question that they did not understand the full implications and complications of. More shockingly, they were not properly informed on what they were doing.

Even within the Schengen area, there are still waiting times at borders. No deal Brexit will not cause disruption. On average the waiting time to enter Poland from Belarus(a non-eu country) is around 1-2 hours, which is similar to the 1.5 hours waiting time to enter Switzerland from Germany.

Terry OliveOil I’m not disputing the law. It is written and can be amended. The law at the time is the law of the land. Parliament can change its mind but it can amend his it wants as well. Parliament is based off the general election within our great democracy. We’ve voted and they will deliver whatever they believe is deliverable to the EU referendum question. By the way the law and general election are two separate things. No one trumps each other.

anom 7213 France has nothing to do with this argument. That is France and this is the U.K. The people have spoken and that is that. A general election will always trump an advisory referendum no matter what. Otherwise why not give a mandate to Theresa May to deliver brexit, the very same electorate which voted in a referendum. That is our parliamentary sovereignty at work in our democracy. Whatever that relationship is fine as long as they deliver on that question, not on trading relationships. When we the U.K. voted brexit, it’s a gamble. I’m not going to listen to mps that can’t deliver on unelected promises to command a majority in the House of Commons. When we leave, doesn’t matter hard or soft.... we’ve left.

If the Tories went to the country with hard Brexit leader there would be Remain Tory deselections, Labour would be forced into second referendum. The UKIP vote would go Tory and much of the Labour Leave vote would go Tory. Tory Remain vote would not risk Corbyn - Lib Dems would split the anti-Brexit vote.

Hace 3 meses
Iazzaboyce
Iazzaboyce

@Sanjose Sacroise The Tory Party is ideologically split (50 years) - they know that cannot continue. The pro-EU MPs thought the referendum would sort it - it backfired. The country is Brexit and the Tory membership is Brexit and the Tory vote is Brexit (would never support Corbyn) and the UKIP vote is Brexit and the Labour Leave vote is Brexit. To survive the Tory Party has to get its house in order. The Brexiteer MPs are only 100 - but they could defect to Brexit Party at any time - the pro-EU Tory MPs would not be so powerful then. The Party membership is against the pro-EU Tory MPs and will prevent them from standing as Tories in a general election.

Hace 3 meses
Sanjose Sacroise
Sanjose Sacroise

Iazzaboyce Big or small recall pro EU MPs and sack them, wait it hasn’t happened. People can do that, but they haven’t. UKIP hasn’t had good publicity and people answered a referendum question. The 2017 general election has seen the confirmed will of the people. T.May hasn’t been voted out. The grassroots will always fight for the candidate no matter what placed by the Tory party. There is simply no appetite for a brexit prime minister. The current brexit leader of the house backs the deal Leadsom. The same result like this is both ways. However the next leadership race will be interesting. If any type of deal goes through, that new leader will automatically revert to being Europe leaning, hard not to be with the current political setup at the time.

Hace 3 meses
Iazzaboyce
Iazzaboyce

@Sanjose Sacroise You must have missed the part about deselections, as Tory constituency members are pro-Brexit and would not select pro-EU candidates. Also, in 2017 half the UKIP vote went to Corbyn thinking Labour would respect the referendum. UKIP/Brexit Party would not stand, so it would be hard Brexit against the all the rest. What happened in Scotland when those seeking independence reverted to first past the post? Besides, they wouldn't need a wipe-out - just a working majority behind a hard Brexit prime minister.

Hace 3 meses
Sanjose Sacroise
Sanjose Sacroise

Iazzaboyce First of all your living in a dream fantasy. The Tories have too many pro euro MPs or more leaning favour wise Euro mps. Eurosceptic mps make up less than 100, that’s why they couldn’t get Leadsom a handsome majority, and many more brexit mps wanted May forward. However May was more than most in her party favouring brexit. Owen Paterson is a hard Brexiteer but even he has admitted leaving the single market is crazy for example and he’s a hard Brexiteer still. The country voted in 2017, the second referendum and May lost. They said an election wipe out of labour didn’t happen. Time and time again tories have struggled to get that overall majority but not many, but only a little to form a small government. Labour will not go Tory and vice versa. It’s nonsense and there are only a handful of swing seats in it. You are deluded if you think a Brexiteer can achieve election wipeout. 17.4 doesn’t equal Tory votes. In an election it’s much lower voting because it’s not as subjective compared to a referendum. Look at an election map.

Greetings from Romania! I wish you luck to somehow solve this mess! The UK is an amazing country, diverse and with such a strong character. It's very disheartening to see it go through this tortured political clusterfuck...

May knows all about failure so she may be right that indicative votes won't work, but on the other hand she is not going to pay any attention to it either way.

The Rebel Alliance headed by Jacob Rees Mogg stood bravely against the evil of the Galactic Empire, never backing down despite overwhelming odds. Formed from resistance movements that arose during the Brexit Wars, the Rebellion worked in secret headed by Nigel Farage for decades to overthrow the Emperor and restore democracy to the U.K.

@Trev Ken Yet another shout of racism and a lack of intellectual understanding of the bigger picture. But that aside, some of your opinion has merit. The balancing and distribution argument is interesting and compelling, my issue with it is that government control of markets leads to lack of investment and even higher levels of corruption than a capitalist system, as the market self regulates...to a point. The major issue is that of the globalist system, this is making the small business man and average worker poorer. It is now big elitest companies that rule M.P's/ government's, not the other way round.
