I’m struggling here. Thuto Mali’s Instagram shows her with 20k + worth of shoes! And her buying a brand new BMW last year. How does someone on benefits afford a brand new BMW? I’m stumped! Unless there’s undeclared money? Claims she was so poor last Christmas that she had to go to food banks. Surely the shoes etc could’ve been sold to save going to food banks AND pay those nursery fees. Priority’s and responsibilities! As her IG account shows a charmed life out and about, shopping, parties, drinking, eating salmon, a selfie with David Haye. But we can’t afford things is the cry. Really has she sold those shoes to raise vital funds? Or has she kept the huge shoe collection and claims to need a food Bank? That’s a worrying attitude if true, for a mum to let her kid get low on food. Are you allowed to refuse work while claiming? I’ve had to take anything I was offered or face losing money. Wasn’t a choice!

Salaries haven't increased in real terms since the 80s, living costs have soared. Private nurseries instead of state run nurseries. Cost of nursery places have trebled since the 80s. High immigration, less jobs, less pay, high rents etc etc Maggie Thatcher was correct, the EU plan was to make the "poor, poorer".

Women in this country really do have a victim complex , how can it affect them more if everyone is paid the same amount regardless of gender.

Charlie R, why aren't the men paying towards the cost of their children? Child benefit was introduced after WW2, to help mothers because some men weren't providing adequately for their children and everything a child requires. My dad used to give all of his wages to my mum.

The Government does not care about the human cost of Universal Credit because the ruling elite see benefit claimants as sub human.

Here's an idea, if you can't afford to have children and deal with the costs then don't have any! Simple isn't it?

+DriveSafe Perhaps we could ask Sa Ra to do an interview with her. As I was a single parent mother in the 80s and the only money I received was child benefit. I didn't ask the state to provide for me and my child, as far as I was concerned, it was my responsibility. I provided for myself, my child, and an au pair as my job commitments meant that I couldn't always take my son to nursery or pick him up. Also with full-time employment, providing for two adults and a child, plus running a part-time business to make sure that we had enough, an au pair was a necessity. I was paying a mortgage and the bills and for everything that we required. Although as I said previously, I couldn't afford to live in London, and prices have soared since then. I didn't wish for my child to be brought up in London either for obvious reasons, as it had changed so much by then. It wasn't the London that I was born and grew up in anymore. Although we always spent our weekends in the Kent countryside, dad would take us away from city life and he made sure that we experienced and stayed connected with nature and everything natural. However, in the 80s I did used to wonder how wives with three children were able to cope financially when they were getting no financial support from their husbands.

ELIAKIM Joseph Sophia The dad is on insta buying their son lavish gifts so you have to wonder. Kids got a Range Rover toy car worth a few hundred. Overpriced toy or food?

Boring lazy argument. If you're rich .have children then fall on hard times through no fault of your own then euthanise the children?

Universal Credit mathematically makes you poorer when you have to switch jobs. Your last wage from your last job pays for the waiting period of universal credit instead of paying for the first month of your next job. Universal Credit also deducts from any delayed payments from your last job. (like overtime for example). UC is mathematically engineered to suck out the savings of the poor people if they have any. Why the government and the opposition pretend they do not see it?

Glaukos Did you tell the UC people that "less than 16 hours a week" attendance time does NOT equate to " less than 16 hours a week" study time? Nowadays  many courses, to save money and make more profit, are structured in a way which requires of the student to spend another 4-6 hours of self-study for every 1-2 hours attendance/tutoring.  It may well be a full time course if self-study is expected as part of the course.

Glaukos, In my opinion, the mathematical model of UC must be changed so that even with all the reductions and rules in place the remaining amount of UC paid must always be sufficient to guarantee a 'dignified lifestyle' for any healthy individual. In addition, people with special needs (disabilities, etc.) must also receive additional amounts to meet adequately their specific needs. If a minimum wage worker, like myself, can see the mathematical design of UC, then why the well paid people in the government and the opposition can not?  Fixing UC is a simple matter of adding and subtracting without thinking about 'government interest' but only thinking about the Dignified Lifestyle of every human being.

gespilk My girlfriends disabled mother who is mentally and physically disabled has been told she has been paid too much and she has to pay it back, They have also took some of her rent off of her as they say my girlfriend isn't in college yet twice we have taken them a proof of course letter, Last time they said "Well although it says full time on the letter you do less than 16 hours a week so you are part time" The worst part is if my girlfriend was to get a job she would be expected to pay the full £100 a week in rent and do college wtf
